Using a range of tools to effectively communicate an object using basic visual key elements - colour, shape, scale - used oil pastels and water colour pencils to draw yellow coat which was tied in a knot. Gestural lines show movement and fluidity - oil pastel highlights paper grain - crisp edges. I focused mainly on the colours and basic shapes of each facet - more abstract and less representational of real life - makes image much more exciting and interesting to observe - what are different areas? Not everything has to be 'in it's place' - wavy red lines don't exist but show creases in fabric - but also combined with the blues and yellows give alternative meaning - almost looks like a sunset on water
