- It is difficult trying to capture photos of sad people - I wanted to do some of my own but when I asked people they couldn't portray it realistically - a bit fake - there are better ones online
- sense of weight - pulling down - I prefer drawing old people - sagging - light hitting skin - almost pulling the face down into shadows - heavy eyes - eyes are important in portraying a sad face - droop down on the out edges - eye brows slightly raised

- Arline drew in front of the television during the McCarthy Senate hearings of 1954 - they look forlorn - eyes - mouth turning down slightly at corners - eye brows pointing down in this case - anger
